1886 - Maria Rizal, sixth child of Francisco Mercado and Teodora Alfonso, is married to Daniel Cruz of Binan, Laguna.
 
1892 - Acting on previous orders from the governor-general, the Guardia Civil conducts simultaneous raids on provincial homes recently visited by Dr. Jose Rizal.
 
1896 - Lt. Manuel Sityar of the Guardia Civil stationed in Pasig sends a confidential letter to the Civil Governor of Manila stating that certain individuals, especially in Mandaluyong and San Juan del Monte, are enlisting men for unknown purposes, making them sign a pledge with their own blood.
 
1897 -Apolinario Mabini is released by the Spanish authorities after being imprisoned for almost ten months.
 
1899 - The Insular Press, a four-page daily, starts publication.
Pres. Emilio Aguinaldo issues a decree freeing the Spanish prisoners who surrendered to the Filipinos after the eleven-month siege of Baler church in Tayabas.
 
1945- Gen. Douglas MacArthur issues a proclamation announcing the "liberation" of the entire Philippines from the Japanese forces.
 
1957 - Pres. Carlos P. Garcia signs an executive order creating the Forest Products Research Institute, which will study and recommend the effective utilization of all forest products and by-products, and give encouragement to the development of the wood and lumber industries.
